Vision for Curriculum & Instruction at HVRSD

During the 2024-2025 school year, Curriculum & Instruction will be focusing on three key areas which include:

  • Responsive Community Practices

  • Data Driven Instruction

  • Effective Tier 1 Individualized Differentiated Instruction

Responsive Community Practices: HVRSD will continue to promote social emotional well being to students, faculty, and community members. This is a continued identified need for the district, which was identified through various sources  including feedback from the elementary curriculum council, district ScIP committee, as well as district reports. The district is committed to providing professional development on creating a comfortable and safe learning environment, allowing the first 4 days of school at the K-5 level to focus on setting up classroom practices and routines, and the continuation of the Character Strong curriculum at the K-8 level.

Data Driven Instruction: HVRSD continues to see the need to make data informed instructional decisions. This work is integral in providing faculty with needed resources/support to make those decisions along with addressing the needs of all learners. Toward that end, the district will:: provide professional development opportunities on utilizing data in the classroom along with provide training on data platforms, such as LinkIt, i-Ready, Common Lit (to name a few). The district will continue to model and implement data chats with faculty and the administrative team.

Effective Tier 1 Individualized Differentiated Instruction:  The district has created a district wide multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) committee that is comprised of administrators, teachers and coaches. Through feedback from the committee along with survey results and recent test scores, HVRSD will be focusing on enhancing our tier 1 instruction. Towards that end, the district will provide coaching opportunities to our K-5 faculty and integrate content specific professional development during grade level meetings, department meetings, and district professional development days

HVRSD supports inclusivity, which means:

  • Being respectful & empathetic

  • Welcoming & needing all

  • Allowing for access & opportunity

  • Moving out of your comfort zone: personal awareness & growth

  • Providing individualized expectations

  • Accepting & celebrating differences

  • Promoting diverse perspectives
