AlertNow
|
AlertNow is a rapid notification system that allows the Hopewell Valley Regional School District to relay important information regarding emergency situations and school delays and cancellations to parents via phone and e-mail. AlertNow may also be used by schools to issue important reminders such as testing schedules, back-to-school nights and delayed buses.

Frequently Asked Questions
- As a parent or guardian of a student enrolled in the Hopewell Valley Regional School District, will I need to register to receive messages from AlertNow?
All parents and guardians of enrolled students are automatically registered in AlertNow provided they have valid information on file with Infinite Campus, the district's student information system. Contact information for AlertNow is updated every 24 hours directly from Infinite Campus. To ensure that your contact information is current in Infinite Campus, log into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Support information is also available at this link.
- How will I be notified by AlertNow?
For non-emergency messages, you will probably receive an e-mail. Occasionally a non-emergency message will also be delivered by telephone. Should a school, district or community emergency occur, you will be notified by e-mail, text message, and telephone, using the e-mail addresses and the home and additional emergency contact telephone numbers you have provided. Standard/general voice calls will be made to the primary guardians using the home telephone number listed on file. Emergency voice communication will call all phone numbers listed for the primary contacts. Emergency messages communicated via phone will have a caller ID of 411. Non-emergency voice calls from principals will show the school's main office number as the caller ID; non-emergency calls from the district will carry 737.4000 as the caller ID. AlertNow will leave a message on any answering machine or voicemail. Because of legal restrictions, text message alerts are an opt-in service. If you would like to receive future messages via text (SMS) using your mobile phone, you must contact the Infinite Campus Help Desk and "opt in" to this service. E-mail messages will come from noreply@hvrsd.org.
- Will the AlertNow system call phone numbers with extensions?
The AlertNow system strives to work with most phone systems that use extensions. Parents/guardians are urged to include their work numbers with extensions when updating contact information in Infinite Campus.
- Can I review previous messages that the school district sent via AlertNow?
Yes. You have the option of listening to a phone message or reading an e-mail that has been delivered to your phone or e-mail account within the past 15 days. To listen to or read a message, select the graphic button Check My Recent AlertNow Phone Messages or E-mails found at the top of this page.
- I have a telemarketer screening device. How will that affect the call?
If your telephone line has a device that prevents automated phone systems from connecting (e.g. TeleZapper, Privacy Manager, Privacy Director, etc.), you may not receive the call. For example, with Privacy Director, all unidentifiable incoming calls are rerouted and the callers must identify themselves for the call to go through. Because AlertNow is automated, it will not identify itself; therefore, the call will not be completed. For screening systems dependent on Caller IDs, recipients can authorize access for a school's phone number through their device. Note that calls identified with the school's number on the Caller ID generally have no trouble getting through Privacy Manager-type systems.
- How do I submit questions, comments or suggestions about AlertNow?
We are excited to offer this communications tool which we believe will significantly improve the speed of school-home communications. Still, we are eager to hear from parents and staff about how we can further improve its function. Do not hesitate to contact us by e-mailing us at Infinite Campus Help Desk.
